2020 Oregon Wildfire Memorial:

Mourning of and liberation from the path we have paved.

The ramp is a memorial, symbol of our linear, logical, and uniquely human arrogance, tearing apart what Earth has provided.

 It frames Mt. Hood to the East, where the fires raged not long ago.
 
 
 
 
 


 
One descends down the scar and is forced to engage with a steel door, acknowledging their culpability.

They regain their autonomy as they descend into the gallery space, the material remains of the fire displayed within.

Imparting their own material associations, they reflect upon the fire’s inherently human essence.

They gently re-emerge into the meadow, their view of Mt Hood and the tragedy associated effectively widened.
